Student assistance grants and loans are provided by donors and managed by the Student assistance funds are funded by donors and managed by the Scott Community College (SCC) Foundation and its Board of Directors. The funds are used to assist SCC students with immediate needs that may prevent them from successfully completing their college courses at SCC.
Student Assistance Grant Conditions & Provisions
To apply, complete and submit the Student Assistance Request form as instructed on the application.
- Students may apply for and receive assistance ONLY ONE TIME per student/household while registered with EICC.
- Assistance is available only to Scott Community College students who are currently registered for classes and are in good standing with EICC.
- Students are eligible, while funding lasts, for a one-time grant of up to $500. All funding is subject to donor support and funds are limited; requests may be denied based on timing, funding, type of request, invalid or incomplete information, etc.
- Receipts, estimates, billing statements/invoices, eviction notices, shut-off notices, payment of rent notices, or written letters from loaners/payee should be included with the application to verify the assistance requested. The Dean of Students and Foundation reserves the right to verify all information provided by the student, call the company/person to whom the funds are due, or deny the request.
- CHECKS WILL NOT BE ISSUED TO STUDENTS. Checks will be issued to a vendor (i.e.: Mid-American Energy, Century Link, landlord, property management group, etc.).
- Support will be provided in the form of a one-time grant that does not have to be repaid.
- Students who receive student assistance are required to provide a thank you explaining their story and the impact of this support that will be shared with the fund’s donors.

SCC Foundation Emergency
Purpose: This grant fund has been established by the SCC Foundation and its Board of Directors to assist students with emergency needs that impact their ability to be successful in the classroom.
Fund Specific Procedures:
- Funds WILL NOT be used for tuition or fees.
Veteran’s Assistance
Purpose: This fund was established by the SCC Foundation and its Board of Directors to assist veteran students with financial need.
Fund Specific Procedures:
- Must be a veteran who is/or will be receiving VA benefits.
- The VA Certifying Official will verify that the student has submitted an application and all documentation for benefits.
Ascentra Credit Union Student Emergency Assistance
Purpose: In 2018 Ascentra Credit Union awarded a grant to the EICC colleges to assist students with emergency needs.
Fund Specific Procedures:
- These funds are to be used to help students with transportation and vehicle repair expenses, utilities, food, and medical expenses.
- Funds WILL NOT be used for housing deposits, vehicle registration, insurance, prescription medications, tuition or books.
Culinary Arts Student Assistance
Purpose: This fund has been established by the Mississippi Valley Restaurant Association to assist Scott Community College Culinary Arts students with financial need. Funds may be used to purchase textbooks and other items needed for their educational training that are not covered by financial aid.
Fund Specific Procedures:
- Funds may be used for the following:
- Required text books, uniform or tools
- Technology or equipment needed for course completion
Malik & K Khaliq Family Student Assistance
Purpose: This fund has been established by the Khaliq family to assist students with post-graduation testing fees, international student assistance, and transportation costs.
Fund Specific Procedures:
- Funds may be used for the following:
- Post-graduation testing fees for employment
- Assistance to international students for academic success
- Transportation support to help ensure students can get to class
- Daycare/Child Care Assistance (Applicant must provide a copy of the active childcare license from the state the childcare provider operates).
Quinn Education Support
Purpose: This fund has been established by Dennis & Lynn Quinn to assist students with textbooks and other items needed that are not covered by financial aid.
Fund Specific Procedures:
- Funds may be used for the following:
- Physicals, inoculations, required fees, and nursing entrance exam (TEA’s).
- Industry certifications/licensures (NCLEX).
- Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society membership fees.
- Industry certifications (Automotive ASE, CDL certifications/licensure).
- Required textbooks or tools.
- Technology needed for course completion.
- To qualify, students must have financial need and be identified by Pell Grant eligibility and/or SNAP eligibility.
Sheperd Bosson Runge
Purpose: This fund has been established by the Shepherd Bosson Runge Family to assist Scott Community College (SCC) Health Science (Nursing, Dental, Medical Assistant, Paramedic, Radiologic and Surgical Tech) students with textbooks and other items needed that are not covered by financial aid.
Fund Specific Procedures:
- Funds may be used for the following:
- Physicals, inoculations, required fees, and nursing entrance exam (TEA’s)
- Industry certifications/licensures (NCLEX)
- Required textbooks, uniforms, or tools
- Technology needed for course completion
- Funds WILL NOT be used for housing deposits, vehicle registrations, insurance, prescription medications or tuition
